Quorn Muster 2011

Hi Every one, It is about time we updated our Blog. The Bog [ Bushtrackers owners group. ] Quorn Muster 2011 was our first Muster and we had a great time meeting like minded people enjoying the moment.

We left Adelaide on Wednesday 21 st September to camp in the Flinders Ranges for the first night. We travelled though the Clare Valley, Hawker, Parachilna Gorge and then to Brachina gorge were we set up camp. We stayed two nights enjoyed bush walking and relaxing.

We left Brachina Gorge on Thursday morning and headed for Quorn for the Muster. It has been many years since we have travelled on the Blinmam to Wilpeana pound road. The last time it was a dirt road and now it is Bitumen. Wilpeana Pound has also changed with a lot more development . It was not long before we were travelling though Hawker on our way to Quorn.

On our arrival to Quorn we missed the turn off but we could see all the Bushtrackers grouped together at the Quorn Racecourse. It was not long after a quick u-turn we arrived.  We noticed a van jacked up with two wheels off with a group of bloggers working on it (Noosa Fox) Brian's van.  One of the bloggers I think it was Brian came over and directed us to a sight next to Neil and Pam (Boys Toy).  We set up camp and everybody made us feel welcome and we look forward to the activities for the rest of the week.

Quorn Race Course         

The week started with welcome drinks held in the Quorn Race Course hall. Meeting new people and putting a face to the bloggers that post comments on the  BOG site was great. The following days were made up of information days, site seeing, happy hours [ with a great comedy show from one of the local ladies and every one of us who watched the show now have a new appreciation for Nutella]. On Sunday it was the spit roast night everyone had a great time. The table decorations were outstanding and seam to be a tradition, so next year we will come better prepared. Well done to the organisers and helpers. Friday night was the Mad Hatters dinner we were bused to the Quorn community hall for a wonderful night. Every one dressed up to the theme Mad Hatters hats. The food was prepared and served by the local community, it was pleasing to see that  the BOG [Bushtrackers Owners Group] involve the local community. Unfortunately we have to leave on Saturday and head back to Adelaide for a wedding the rest of the bloggers were on there way for a ride in a steam train from Quorn. We also missed the camp oven cook off. I heard that Mick [ Nik'N'Off] won first prize, well done mate. Deb and myself had a wonderful time and would recommend all Bogger's to great involved in future Musters. Special thanks to all the committee members past and present also the many helpers, with out you guys it does not happen.

We are currently camped at Hay in NSW and heading home. We had a great time at Lake Maraboon, Sandy and Graeme arrived on Sunday and were able to camp next to us. We checked the Red Claw nets each morning, we travelled 5 kms accross the dam to our set nets. We were very successful with lots of Red Claw with some measureing 300mm long !!.Our next stop was Cania Gorge with lots of bush walking, meals around the camp fire and fiendly local birds. It was now time to travel back to Bushtracker for a service and repairs. We left the Van at Bushtracker for two days. So the next two days Deb had me site seeing , the Ginger factory and Australia Zoo [ CRICKEY that was a great experience I would highly reccomend it ]. We picked up the Bushtracker and headed down to Gold Coast actually Plam Beach to catch up with Drew and Annie. It was great to catch up. We left the Gold Coast on Saturday morning and arrived in Hay today Sunday and should be back in Adelaide on Tuesday 14 weeks from when we left. Deb and I have had a great time tavelling and we are looking forward to catching up with everyone and to plan our next trip. Regards Deb and Tev.

We left Tulley Heads in early July.We were with Sandy and Graeme the fishing improved and we caught lots of fish mainly mackarel. Our next stop was back to Lucinda for another 10 days. We caught up with a few friends from our last visit and met some new ones. Our neighbour Harry spent most of his fishing from the beach mainly fishing for whiting and flathead. I picked some useful tips in gathering bait and beach fishing. Thanks Harry, buy the way you make a mean Corn beef and vegie's. The boat fishing was also good with Deb catching a nice cod and bream and I caught a good size barred grunter.The local Prawn boat arrived at the dock with fresh tiger prawns $ 10.00 per kilo what great value we had a feast. We left lucinda and headed in land to Charters Towers a old gold mine with lots of history. We stayed for two days and did all the tourist things. Our next stop was Threasa dam just out of Claremont what a great spot. Our camp spot was in a great location over looking the dam with our own camp fire. We stayed for three days but could have stayed much longer. We are currently staying at Lake Maraboon for the week. Sandy and Greame will also meet up with us on Sunday. Hopefully we will catch some Red Claw !!!! Cheers Deb and Trev.

Hi guys,

The sun is finally shining. We are currently in Tully Heads a small fishing village just south of Innisfail, you proberly remember cyclone Yasi well this fishing village was in the direct path and there is a lot of damage. The locals are in high spirit. we went fishing today between the main land and Dunk island the fishing was average but the scenery outstanding and the weather 26 degrees and sunny, we are hoping the fishing will be better tomorrow. We have had advice from the locals!. The last week or so we have stayed at ellis beach, and have done day trips to Cairns,Mossman Gorge and Port Douglas the weather was very average windy and wet. On the way to Tully Heads we stayed at Mission Beach for two nights we had a good time. We went to a seafood restaurant and I had the best oysters and beer and Deb had a bucket of prawns which was huge and I had to help her finish them. We were going to meet Robyn and Russel at King Ash bay next week but unfortantly we have take our caravan back to Bushtracker for repairs so our plans have changed. Next week we are going back to Lucinda for another weeks fishing we are not sure where we will go next.

Hi everyone,

We have just arrived at Ellis beach. 30 kms from Cairns and near Palm Cove.We will be here for a week or so. The last 10 days we were at Lucinda a fishing village near Hinchinbrook island. Sandy,Graeme,Chris and Don also joined us also Robyn and Russell were there for a couple days. We had lots of fun fishing in our boats. The scenery was breath taking, it took a couple of days to locate the fishing spots. Deb once again is the fishing gun catching large mud crabs on her fishing line and school mackeral on her rod using a blue lure she picked out [ she liked the colour !!!] ps. mike and Greg I have finally caught a nice mackeral on the new rod Ha Ha. Lucinda is a great location we were only staying for 3 days but stayed 10 days we will definately go back in the future. Ellis beach is a great location right on the beach with a pub over the road rather convenient, tomorrow night they have a live band should be good. I have been told we are going to markets at Port Douglas on Sunday that should be a hoot !! hope everyone is keeping warm down south, Regards Deb and Trev.

12th June 2011 Sunday June long weekend

Hi everyone,
We are currently at Rolling Stone on the coast 50 kms from Townsville. We have had a couple of days of rain but today was sunshine. We woke early today and went beach fishing at Bagal beach. Deb was the only one to catch a fish [ a small bream] and also a nice Mud crab which we had for ontray tonight. I have posted
the picture on the blog. Our next stop will be Lucinda for a week with Robyn,Russell,Sandy,Graham,Chris and Don. We will be able to put the boat in so hopfully lots of fish.Robyn and myself have lots of midgee bites we look like pin cushions. We will update next week hopefully with some good fishing stories. Hi everyone,
We are currently camped at the 1770 camp ground with Graeme and Sandy. Robyn and Russell left on Wednesday and we will catch up with on Sunday at Camilla beach for a few days. The weather is getting warmer each day and the sunsets are fantastic. Fishing has been poor we are hoping it will inprove as we head up the coast. 1770 is a small town on the coast and the caravan park is right on the beach, it reminds me of Noosa in the early 70's. We are walking each day on the beach and though the township. The girls are playing lot of cards on the beach and toasting the sunsets each day. We have set up the annex on the Bush Tracker and have had film nights, last night was True Grit. We are leaving 1770 on Sunday to head up the coast I will update our progress then.

Hi every one,
We have been in Noosa for the week with Graeme,Sandy,Russell and Robin. the weather has been warm during the day but cool at night. Today we went back to Bush Tracker for the first service. The van is performing well and we are getting to know how work all the gadgets. Yesterday we went fishing in the boat at the Noosa river. Deb caught her first fish in the boat and I have posted the picture. On sunday we are heading up to 1770 caravan park right on the beach should be good. We are all having a great time. Friday the 20 th May. We now have our van !!

Hi every one,
We picked up our new van a day earlier Tuesday 17 th May. It was a big day 7.00 am start what a brain drain. the Bushtraker team were great could have not been any more help full. We drove from the Bushtracker factory to the Maroochydore [ Cotton tree] caravan park. Everything went well we arrive at 3 pm and started setting up. About 4.00 pm Robyn and Russell arrived to join us and were on the site next to us. We had a big night at the Maroochydore surf club $4.50 pints ( scooners in Queensland) great meals. The weather has be average low 20's with afternoon rain but the nights are mild. We left Maroochydore today and currently camped at the Kinaroy show grounds. We are heading to Havey Bay tomorrow for the night then to Noosa to meet Graeme and Sandy and Robyn and Russell will also meet us. We will be at Noosa for one week. I will up date during the week. Saturday 14 May the journey continues !!

Hi everyone,
We have finally made it up to Kingscliff just below the Qld boarder for Anne Maree & Drew's wedding yesterday.  The weather is fantastic and we had a great day yesterday celebrating the wedding with Drew & Anne Maree and friends.  Their wedding was at the Mantra on Salt resort in the garden next to the beach and the reception at the resort.  Anne Maree was georgous and Drew scrubbed up ok as well, the speaches were good and we danced the night away (well some of us).  Today we had a catch up BBQ with everyone that is still around and tomorrow we continue our journey to the Sunshine Coast.

Hi every one, we are about to head off on our first journey with our new Bush Tracker caravan. We are picking up the van on Wednesday 18/05/2011. We are all packed and ready to go!! We will be meeting Graeme and Sandy at Noosa for a week also Robyn and Russell may be also joining us.
